Press Release
Cassandra Ewer is a four-time Grammy-award winning singer with a passion for painting a picture with sound. Bringing people together through harmony. And creating joy through music.
“Singing,” she says, “breaks down barriers and creates instant connections. Connections that have never been more important than now.”
Cassandra made her European debut at the age of 18 when she was chosen as a soloist on the Bregenz Festival floating stage in Austria. Since then she’s graced stages across the globe; including Carnegie Hall, The Lincoln Center, Notre Dame Cathedral, and Royal Albert Hall.
Now working on her long-awaited solo album, Coming Home, Cassandra pulls from her years of performing nationally and internationally as a soloist with professional vocal ensembles. She is featured on 12 professional recordings, many of them Grammy-winning or nominated.
This includes the Phoenix Chorale, the Oregon Bach Festival, and the Austin-based vocal ensemble Conspirare, as well as performances with the Hilliard Ensemble, Robert Shaw Festival, and American Bach, among others.
The Arizona Republic describes her soprano voice as “goosebump-inducing”.
Coming Home features an eclectic mix of music including classical, contemporary, jazz, even Gregorian chant. “The pieces I chose for this album bring me full circle. It is music I’ve loved for years,” she said.
It’s the kind of music she finds challenging. “Bach, for instance, composes pieces that have a lot going on all at once. Your voice must be flexible, clear, and light,” while she says “Debussy demands super-human vocal technique. You must be able to sing fluidly from the top of your register down to the basement seamlessly, while creating images with the sound.”
It is music that stirs emotion and allows the listener to be quiet and introspective.
Cassandra holds degrees in vocal performance and music education. In addition to her concert performances, she is also a conductor and music educator.
Cassandra is a Utah native who now resides in Arizona with her composer husband and children. Coming Home will be in stores on Nov. 27th and available on Spotify, Amazon, Apple Music, and more on Nov. 13th.
